My view on the news - The Lords

The Lords

There is talk about getting rid of the Lords. Seems like a daft idea to me, undertaken by the House Of Commons in order that they can get their bills passed without any opposition.

I see it like this. The Lords can speak the truth and demand answers to very awkward questions without having to worry about upsetting the populace. In my book, if it wasn't for the Lords then we would have considerably more stupid, ludicrous and manic laws on our books than we do at present.

There is what is right, and what the public perceives as being right. We all know what can happen when a vocal minority decide to spook their representatives. It is just as well that the Lords aren't voted in. They are our one and only remaining barrier to save us from ourselves.
